2026 Award Recipients
Conditions affecting the bones, joints and muscles are the number one cause of disability in Canada. These conditions surpass heart conditions and mental illness in terms of the impairment they cause. The are also the most costly group of diseases, with an estimated burden of over $22 billion dollars annually.
The Fraser Institute estimates that over 90 percent of Canadians will require orthopaedic treatment in their lifetimes. 90 percent.
The work of Canadian researchers and surgeons deserves our support and recognition as they strive to restore pain-free movement and quality of life for patients.
