Dr. Luckshman Bavan, MBBS, PhD., FRCS, is officially a legend. He just won the Canadian Orthopaedic Research Legacy Award.

The CORL program was founded in 2006 to help ensure the legacy of Canada’s world-class status in orthopaedic research, thereby ensuring orthopaedic patients reap the reward of new techniques and treatments made possible through research grants from this program.

Dr. Bavan is a Paediatric Orthopaedic surgeon with The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.


The Canadian Orthopaedic Foundation recognized his work on Developmental dysplasia of the hip in infants, one of the most common MSK conditions in infancy, as world-class in keeping with the intent of the award.


Dr. Bavan is leading a team that together, are expanding the horizons of orthopaedic medicine and care for Canadians and people across the globe. Supporting Dr. Bavan and his team in their efforts is a core mission of the Foundation.


The work of Dr. Bavan and the team at The Hospital for Sick Children deserves our support and recognition as they strive to restore pain-free movement and quality of life for infants facing this most common affliction.
