Kent enjoyed a long career as a tax partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Kent graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1981, articled with a firm in Saskatoon, receiving his CA (CPA) designation in 1984. Kent joined the tax practice of Coopers and Lybrand (predecessor PwC firm) in Toronto in1985, then transferred to the firm's Saint John NB office in 1990 and was admitted to partnership in 1994. Kent subsequently transferred to the firm’s Ottawa office in 1997, where he took on the lead of the tax practice. In 2009, Kent transferred to the firm’s Edmonton office, taking over the leadership of the practice there. In 2016, Kent once again took over the leadership of the Ottawa office, commuting on a weekly basis from his home in Edmonton. Kent firmly believes that his experience, living and working in so many different parts of the country, has provided him with a broad perspective on the Canadian experience. Kent’s practice focused primarily on corporate and high net worth clients in a variety of industry sectors. Kent has also assisted various charities and NPOs over the years including, most recently, advising the Canadian Medical Association in connection with the sale of MD Financial Management to Scotiabank. Kent served as a board member and Treasurer of the Royal Ottawa Hospital Foundation for many years and also served a two-year term as a governor of the Canadian Tax Foundation.
